My name is Danielle Buchanan and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors as well as a Certified Professional Life Coach, and Certified NeurOptimal® Trainer

It’s an honour and a privilege to be doing the work I do. I bring experience supporting individual adults, youth (14+) and groups through the power of building a trusting connection and holding space for you to be seen and heard in a safe and non-judgemental environment.

I have specialized training in Grief, Suicide to Hope, Advanced Narrative Therapy, Life Span Integration Therapy, Neurofeedback and Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Many of those I work with are experiencing loss, such as loss of a loved one, loss of career, loss of relationship or loss of sense of self.

Many of my clients come to me seeking support with their experiences with:

  • Grief and Loss

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Life Transitions

  • Healing Trauma

I feel my personal experience has helped me become the therapist I am today where I can hold space for folks on a much deeper level. In choosing to share my grief story, I recently gave a Tedx talk. My story, just as yours is constantly shifting and evolving.

NEUROFEEDBACK: READY TO TRAIN YOUR BRAIN?

I started using Neuroptimal in 2013 when I lost my dad. I was suffering from major anxiety and was constantly having to keep busy, but then my body would crash and shut down. I didn't know what to do with myself and I was having an extremely difficult time with my sadness attached to my loss. I feel with grief therapy and Neurofeedback it truly helped regulate my nervous system.

I experienced first-hand the difference that neurofeedback can make. I could tell a difference after the first session - I was hooked! Not only did it help me with my anxiety and depression, it helped improve my focus and mental clarity.

I am passionate about helping others and I chose to add Neurofeedback to my counselling practice to help my clients. I have been using this tool with clients presenting problems related to:

  • Trauma

  • Post concussion

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Grief

I am honoured to be able to offer Dynamical Neurofeedback™ to the Sea to Sky Corridor area as a Certified NeurOptimal® Trainer and RCC. I believe strongly in the body's inherent wisdom to help heal itself and feel that this truly safe and non-invasive form of brain training can be a powerful tool to help us live our best lives. With the stressors we are exposed to on a daily basis, especially these days, we can use all the help we can get.

As a Registered Clinical Counsellor in BC you may be covered for Neurofeedback in BC through your medical benefits.

When not engaged with clients or furthering my therapeutic knowledge, I enjoy spending time outdoors and can often be found enjoying the local trails with my beloved dog Faith.
